The Details

  • After an initial meeting (phone or in person) to go over your health history, food likes and dislikes and goals, I will create your first individualized cooking lesson that is both interactive and suited to your cooking expertise.
  • Think of the Kitchen as a no judgment zone. We might talk about health issues, gripe about the challenges of picky kids or how you secretly hate kale. It’s all welcome!
  • Private cooking lessons are generally 2 1/2 hours in length. Come ready to cook, eat and enjoy your new culinary creations.
  • Private cooking lesson prices: $300 for one person, $425 for two, plus the cost of food (I provide basic pantry items such as salt and olive oil). This includes the initial consultation, menu planning designed around specific preferences or health conditions, shopping, prepping, all recipes and handouts. All the food is yours to eat and keep – I will pack up any leftover food for you to bring home.
  • Private cooking lessons are interactive, meaning we will be using knives and other sharp objects. There will be knife instruction but understand the risk involved in using a knife and being in the kitchen in general.

“I reached out to Heather for cooking classes as a holiday gift for my daughter and it was better than we expected. My daughter said it was the gift she didn't even know she wanted but was so appreciative to receive. Learning knife skills and practicing chopping was helpful. I was surprised to learn about the benefits of some whole grains like quinoa and farro - these are foods I would not have considered cooking before the lesson. I can't say there was anything absent from our classes, I will miss seeing Heather and being in her kitchen. We look forward to another opportunity for a class.”

“I’m consistently impressed with Heather’s professionalism and attention to detail, not only as a chef but also as a nutritionist. I love the cooking classes. There is a great mix of learning, demonstration, discussion, and tasting. I always come away with fresh information, new cooking skills, and tried, tested healthy recipes that I put right into the rotation. Heather’s enthusiasm is contagious – I am enjoying cooking more! Heather’s soups are exceptional! We had two family members going through major medical treatments and Heather’s nutrition-packed, delicious soups were a wonderful gift for them. Everything is thoughtfully planned and well prepared.”

My class at The Green Palette Kitchen was a great experience for me. The atmosphere is warm and comfortable - just inviting you to feel relaxed and at ease. I did not know what to expect. And found myself so intrigued with all the information you were passing on to me. It inspired me to want to learn and do more - from my kitchen tools, to growing some veggies and herbs, to creating more of what I eat from “scratch.” Finding you came at a good time for me. As they say, when the student is ready, the teacher will appear!

Heather was an amazing teacher and chef. She is patient, loving, and a joy to learn from. We learned we could could make wonderful meals at home in relatively short time. Love the kitchen and dining space, all very zen like. We felt like were at the kitchen of “chef to the stars”!

I recently had a private cooking class with her that was wonderful! She is full of ideas and recipes for healthy whole food cooking. She taught me how to use herbs in my food to make it more flavorful and also gave me a lesson on how to properly use my knives. The food we cooked was delicious and all the leftovers were sent home with me. I would highly recommend Heather for cooking classes and/or nutritional counseling.
